Armadillo Artworks: Artists Biography

Armadillo Artworks is the creative collaboration between husband and wife artists, Mitchell Shenker and Diane. Mitchell, longtime photographer and Diane, artist and graphic designer bring their distinctive talents, experience and passionate creativity to their sculpted Polaroid images.

They are inspired by classical Impressionism, a deep love for color and the magnificent way light creates form. Like painting on canvas, they blend the effects of color, light and texture into a distinctive, hand painted, watercolor-like style of their own.

Diane received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and attended San Francisco's Academy of Art College in design. For over fifteen years Diane owned a successful and award-winning graphic design studio in San Francisco.

Mitchell received his formal training at the International Center of Photography in New York City. With his own commercial photography business based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mitchell specializes in food & wine, people and technology commercial work (mitchshenkerstudio.com),

Their collaborative artwork has won top "finalist" recognition in several juried shows sponsored by Polaroid Corporation and Calumet. They were chosen as one of the “top twenty” Polaroid fine artists in the book, “Polaroid Manipulation” by internationally published author, Kathleen Carr.
